Description:
The Tiger Swallowtail butterfly has distinctive yellow and black striped markings on its wings and body. Females are sometimes darker, black or brown, this mimicking the poisonous Pipevine Swallowtail. The wingspan of the Tiger Swallowtail can range from 3.5 to 6.5 inches, southern subspecies are larger than northern ones.
Habitat:
The Tiger Swallowtail butterfly are commonly found in woodlands and grasslands. You can also sometimes find these butterflies in cities or other environments. Commonly found in the eastern portion of the United States and Canada.
