Field Notes

Description:

This little one is is an intergradation of a red-eared slider and yellow-bellied slider sub-species. The coloration on the turtle's head features traits from both sub-species: the red ear mark of the red-eared slider, and the yellow lines typical of a yellow-bellied slider.

Habitat:

Central Park, NYC

Notes:

This is the 2nd time I've spotted this hybrid combination. See another one from Columbia, Missouri in June of 2011: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6342399
