Field Notes

Description:

It's been in the upper 80s here since last week. On Saturday morning, we went out for a walk and spotted lots of cicada skins on the trees and ground. When we got back to our house, this cicada was emerging from its skin. We found it when the head and body had just popped out. We watched for the next 20 minutes or so for its entire body to squeeze out and it crawl up and over the original skin.
