Field Notes

Description:

A medium-sized hawk native to the North American continent and found from Southern Canada to Northern Mexico.

Habitat:

This Hawk occurs in various types of mixed deciduous forests and open woodlands, including small woodlots, riparian woodlands in dry country, and forested mountainous regions and also now nests in many cities.

Notes:

In fact, as per the habitat notes, this Hawk was seen in a park in the middle of a city. I found it in a fairly concealed spot in some low shrubby trees watching for unsuspecting prey.
