Common throughout NE Melbourne, they don't see to bite!

Habitat:

Disturbed red gum forest next to the yarra river

Thanks for the I.D han_david. I've been looking at these cool little guys for a while wondering what they are. According to ant wiki other similar species don't occur in Melbourne so i'll tentatively label it as Leptomyrmex erythrocephalus. http://www.antwiki.org/wiki/Leptomyrmex_cnemidatus
