Field Notes

Description:

You can spot these ducks all year round in the UK. They eat seeds, acorns, berries, plants, insects and shellfish.

Habitat:

From the RSPB website:
Where to see them - It is the commonest duck and most widespread so you have a chance of seeing it just about anywhere where there is suitable wetland habitat, even in urban areas. I took these photos at the beach on Cramond Isle (photo 1), St Mararet's Loch (photo 2) which is near the Holyrood palace in Edinburgh and is home to many ducks, geese and swans and in the Kelvin River in Glasgow (photo 3).

Notes:

The third photo was taken in Glasgow (Botanic Gardens) and you can see the characteristic blue band on the female's wing.

Thanks Daniele! Yes I will, I just got a bit carried away yesterday with adding some of my photo's :) I will try and update all of them today.
Hi staccyh, and welcome to Project Noah! Nice images! Where you do know the ID of the species in your spotting, please take the time to Google up the scientific name and add it.This allows your spottings to leave the Unidentified list and become properly integrated into the Project Noah data base. Thanks, and welcome again!
