Description:
This is a Grass Sawfly Larvae, It is white/see through and has a bright orange head with big black eyes. I found it on the underside of and Alder leaf where it wanted to stay and curl up.
Habitat:
This Sawfly Larvae feeds on grains in fields, matures in 3 to 4 weeks and drops to the ground where they spend the winter underground and emerge in the spring. They feed during the day and "clip" the heads off of grain.
Notes:
I did find this on an Alder leaf, so I am not 100% positive this is a Grass Sawfly, however, it is the closest resemblance in terms of physical characteristics (the clear/white/green body and orange head). I haven't found any other variety of Sawfly Larvae that looks as much like the one I photographed.
