Common Carp
Cyprinus carpio
38.5738, -109.546
Field Notes
Description:
Large freshwater fish.
Habitat:
Colorado River
Notes:
I have no idea what these fish were doing and would love to know everyones thoughts! I saw two separate schools or carp. One was crowded into a tiny canal off the river. They were all pushing each other to get close to the land as possible. Some would even jump on land and then wiggle back down into the water. The other school crowded a large pipe that was emptying into the river. (seen above) My guess is they were either feeding or spawning.
