Field Notes

Description:

This Feather boa kelp was about 2 meters long (can reach over 5 meters long). Dark brown with straplike corrugated fronds lined with small blades and pneumatocyst at intervals.

Habitat:

Spotted washed ashore at the Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge.

Notes:

It is native to the coastline of western North America from Alaska to Baja California.
