Description:

This bird was just too far to get a good picture, but the beak is white, the body is white to the shoulders, the wings are dark, has a yellow/orange mark from the beak to the nostrils passed the eyes to the back of the head.

Thank you very much! The funny thing is that we came home(Southern Oregon) and the next month discovered the crested caracara living about 2 hours south of us just south of the Calif border! Didn't see a one in Costa Rica.... or Belize last year, either

The adults have the yellow face..... but they really are spectacular birds
Thank you so much for the ID, Xiaoxuan. They change so much when they mature!! I specially like then young with that gorgeous yellow in the face and the very white plumage... : )
