Description:

About 1/2 inch in length.

Habitat:

Spotted on a goldenrod flower bordering a field and deciduous woods.

Ha... must have been an extra tasty flower. :)
It is indeed. Absolutely amazing mimicry. It was my first spot of the day and the most difficult to ID. I knew it was a fly because of the wings, but which one? Oddly most of the fly bee mimics I've encountered fly away immediately, this one didn't seem concerned about my presence.
