My first prairie kingsnake.

Habitat:

Found on a gravel road out in the country during the night.

They are cool! Well, the term "poisonous" refers to something that would "poison" you if you ate it. Some snakes are "venomous", meaning they inject "venom" into your body using fangs (or in other animals, stingers, etc.). So some snakes are venomous, but none are poisonous, because you could eat them (although I wouldn't want to). But this one is nonvenomous. Kingsnakes are known to eat other snakes, even venomous ones! :)
