Description:

Magnolia soulangeana originates in France, where it was first cultivated by Étienne Soulange-Bodin (1774–1846) who was a retired cavalry officer in Napolen's army. From France Magnolia Soulangeana spread throughout Europe and North America.
This Magnolia tree was just starting to come into bloom when I took these pictures the other day. In the third image you can see what I think might be a seed head.

Habitat:

This Magnolia was growing in planter box in the shade.

Notes:

I'm not exactly sure of the species of this Magnolia as it's not in full bloom yet, but Magnolia soulangeana was the closest I could find. If anyone can think of better match for the Magnolia pictured above, please let me know.
