Field Notes

Description:

Small white eggs suspended off individual tethers.

Habitat:

Found underneath an outdoor table. Usually found on the underside of leaves or branches.

Notes:

The individual threads ensure the newly hatched young don't eat each other. Apparently you can buy the eggs as a form of biological pest control - the young are also known as 'aphid lions'. I must have a fairly healthy garden :)
