Willow Flycatcher
Empidonax traillii
37.5531, -122.091
Field Notes
Description:
Small flycatcher with thin eyering and short wings. Lighter from throat to tail. Olive brown above. Short bill, darker on top and some orange beneath.
Habitat:
Moist areas near water, reeds and willows.
Notes:
This is the second Willow Flycatcher I spotted. This one at a Nectar garden trying to get a bath in the bird bath. These birds are migrants and only pass through this area. Coyote Hills is well known here to have many small species of migrants rest here and even some rare vagrant birds show up.
