Description:

The plant is about 6 feet tall with big leaves and spiky green seed pods about the size of eggs. It was growing on the edge of a corn field next to the Ma and Pa Trail.

Habitat:

It was found on the edge of a corn field next to the Ma and Pa Trail.

Notes:

This plant contains the alkaloids atropine and scopolamine,and is known to be a powerful hallucinogen. Native Americans and other cultures used to consume the leaves and seeds in rituals to see visions and speak with the gods.

This plant was found on the Ma and Pa Trail near Bel Air, MD. The Ma and Pa Trail is a 6.25-mile (10.1 km) multi-purpose rail trail that follows the path of the old Ma and Pa Railroad through Harford County, Maryland.
