Field Notes

Description:

Hawaiian: naupaka kahakai. Beautiful succulent with round, green fruit and small white flowers. The flowers occur in more than one color.

Habitat:

[Not exactly] at the foot of Mauna Loa volcano in Hawaii Volcanoes Nat'l Park. Pacific coastal lava field. Indigenous.

Notes:

This shrub can grow to the height of a tall person, given the right conditions. Commonly occurring on the Hawaiian islands.

Hi, mauna. I think it's a kind of family Goodeniaceae. Maybe Scaevola L. genus.
