I thougt it may be a cherry tree..what about plum? I seem to remember that they were planted in the same area.
Looked at the other photo. Maybe also a cherry, different kind. By any chance ... are the two trees planted close together?

Pretty, staccyh ... looks like a cherry of some kind, genus Prunus.
