Description:
Slender long-legged bush-shrike; a distinct brilliant pink patch in the plumage; bright pink rump; buffy-brown upperparts

Habitat:
Semi-arid bush country from 150-1600m
Notes:
Two races occur: they have distinctive plumage's. North of the equator ♂ (hilgerti) has a brilliant pink stripe from throat to the lower breast(without any black), while south of equator and northern Tanzania, ♂ (cathemagmena) has a similar stripe but also has a black band around the throat.
