Field Notes

Description:

A tiny (4-5mm), red/brown and black jumping spider with a white "moustache". Apparently, there were two species at one time combined around 1980 to create one species of Zygoballus rufipes. I could not find why it is named "hammerjawed". That would be interesting information.

Habitat:

Woodland habitat.

Notes:

Two new species of jumpers and one crab spider in one day! It was a good day yesterday. This little guy (yes, a male) definitely had personality.
