Field Notes

Description:

Bush growing about 4 feet high, "leaflets-3", leaves varying from green to red, drooping clusters of round whitish berries. The leaves tend to be shiny.

Habitat:

On the banks of the lower Umpqua River, quite a ways inland from the Pacific coast, where it is warmer and drier than the coast. The dominant tree surrounding it is the Douglas fir.
