Field Notes

Description:

I think it's a Vanessa atalanta caterpillar but I don't know for sure. I found it strange that it was eating a dead oak leaf... In fact that is how I discovered it, I heard it crunching that leaf and I started searching for what was making that sound. Afterwards I took it to a small oak tree with fresh leaves. Maybe it will have a nice supper 'cause lunch pretty much sucked.

Correction: It's not a Vanessa atalanta... thanks for the help identifying it!!!

Habitat:

Dead leaf on the forest floor.?!
