Blue tailed skink

Hi Mark, this lizard here is a type of skink. The species Cryptoblepharus egeriae or Blue-tailed Skink is a similar looking species that is only found in Australia. We have a couple of species that look like the one you have here. They are in the genus Plestiodon. Juvenile lizards in this genus do have blue tails and are often called "blue-tailed" skinks for that reason (which can easily lead to confusion). It may not be possible to get past genus level (which is ok, you can just put "Plestiodon sp." in the scientific name section). I found one online link to local lizards (and other wildlife) that may help. If you have any access to local reptile field guides or local nature centers, you might be able to find more information that way, as well.
