Field Notes

Description:

Orange and black spider. Rounded cephalothorax is orange. Rounded abdomen is black. The head looks like a capital M. The spider looks like a capital M laterally attached to a figure of 8. Very swiftly moving.

Habitat:

Suntaley khola is a remote village in West Bengal, India with the River Moorti flowing by it. There is only one narrow motorable road that ends by the river. This spotting was on the wall of the Resort.

@ Heather, it looks quite similar. But you are right...it is out of known range. Maybe it is a stowaway...or a mimic. Thanks for looking it up...maybe I will get an ID soon. Here's hoping. Thanks again.
Wow, that's a tough one to i.d. It looks almost exactly like a species of Hypselistes, but they are found in the U.S. and Canada.
