Field Notes

Description:

Family: Papilionidae (Swallowtails). Wingspan: 79 - 140 mm. This was definitely on the smaller scale. Female. Yellow with bright blue. Black veins to appear as tiger stripes. Orange spots. Adults feed on aster family, pea family and dogbane family to name a few. Hosts: Magnolia and rose family.

Habitat:

Meadow near woodlands and 7 mile lake.

Notes:

Photos might be more than one butterfly. Many females at this location.
