Field Notes

Description:

This spider is huge. He/she is just under the size of the palm of my hand. I found it outside on my garbage bin in Tennessee. I'm wondering what kind of spider it is.

Habitat:

I'm not sure. My hard has quite a few trees in it and is also very close to a wooded area. The climate around here is generally very hot and humid in the summer. It's been very rainy lately as well.

Species ID Suggestions

Comments (2)

I'm thinking wolf spider instead of nursery spider because of the eyes - two appear larger than the others.
This might help you find the species id, http://bugguide.net/node/view/1954/bgpage. I think it's a nursery spider, but I'm not sure.
