Description:

The Stonechat (Saxicola torquata) has recently been split from several subspecies into 3 distinct species. This one is still called Stonechat by some authorities and European Stonechat by others, but the scientific name is now Saxicola rubicola. The other 2 new species are Siberian Stonechat (Saxicola maurus) and African Stonechat (Saxicola torquatus).
