Description:
This is a fungus that stays for a while. When it first appears it looks like marshmallow. Once it reaches the oval shape, layers are added on. The fungus also produces a yellow liquid that covers the fruiting body and hardens. It almost feels like vanish.
Habitat:
This fungus grows on dead trees, in my case this one was growing from a root of a dead oak.
Notes:
I am fascinated by this fungus. It started growing in early July, 2013 and would have remained in place, but my neighbor accidentally dislodged it. There are more growths of this fungus around the dead oak tree. I have been photographing it since early July and I have a very interesting study on their growth. I don't remember ever seeing this fungus before.
