Field Notes

Description:

I stopped to take a few photos of pokeweed, because it's a familiar part of the landscape here and I don't have it in my collection. I was disappointed because insects had eaten all the leaves. When I got home, I realized I had gotten a (blurry) photo of the culprit caterpillar. Anyone recognize him?

Thank you, Fran-the-Naturalist. I'm not sure we have a match yet. I need a red-orange head and a pale yellow "racing stripe"... but, for sure, let me know if you have any other ideas :-)
Thank you, Aaron, I appreciate your help. I looked around a bit for an ID online, but no luck yet. Can you point me toward a good resource?
I have quite a few pokeweed plants in the yard this year and just went to inspect them. I don't have any caterpillars that look like this. I'll keep looking for an ID for you.
cool find, even if it was by mistake! :)
