Thanks Tiz and Namitha. I will know in future.
Like Tina said, I think you can update this spotting and give a bit of information, since the species name is confirmed.
The leaves looked very similar to 'Thuja', but , now I checked Lawson Cyprus in Wikipedia [I have never heard of it before]. And I understood, why this is not Thuja. Thank you so much for this new spotting and wonderful bit of information.
If you are certain, you can just add/update your spottings common and and the scientific name. You dont have to do an ID suggestion on your own uploads.. If you are looking for ID support for a specimen, it helps a lot if you write a bit about the habitat and other factors that might be important :) As Namitha said, welcome to Project Noah. I hope you will enjoy it :)) Tina
Namitha - No the cones look different than that. I'm certain now it is a Lawson's Cyprus.
Welcome to Project Noah, Mike. Hoping to see more, wonderful spottings from London.
Hi Mike, Looks like 'Thuja' tree. The family is definitely Cypressaceae, Tina.
Thanks Tiz. I think it might be a Lawson's cypress (Chamaecyparis lawsoniana). Yeah it has a really nice aroma.
If you rub it between your fingers you will feel a lovely pine-aroma. Unf. I do not know the species, but perhaps someone else is more familiar with it :) Regards
