Field Notes

Description:

A medium-sized all-white heron with a sturdy yellow bill, dark legs and feet. A rather short, thick neck for a heron makes it have a swollen throat look. Immature entirely white without plumes and the bill starts out dark and gradually becomes yellow.

Habitat:

A large flock flew in and landed at the edge of Lake Lewisville.
