Description:

This species of chickweed is characterized by hairy stems and leaves. The plant is rampant with stems of 10 - 20 cm. This species is found in mountain areas of the Northern hemisphere. In Iceland the alpine mouse-ear is common both in lowlands and highlands.

Habitat:

Lowland meadow with some gravel.

Notes:

The name of the genus Cerastium comes from the Greek: KERAS (= horn), likely referring to the shape of the fruits of the genus.
This species differs from other Cerastium sp. by its narrow petals going over the calyx and its woolly hairs.
