Description:

A small butterfly seen resting in a patch of sun that permeated deep rainforest near the Costa Rica River.

Habitat:

Costa Rica to W Ecuador
Forest edges, clearings, trails in the primary forest, secondary forest and margins of streams.

Notes:

Looks somewhat like a yellow Crimson Patch (Chlosyne janais)!

Not bad, Pam ;-)... Genus is correct, it is a Chlosyne narva bonpland. A checkerspot with quite elongated forewings, that makes it different to other Chlosyne sp.. Nice one! http://butterfliesofamerica.com/chlosyne_narva_bonpland.htm
