Field Notes

Description:

species of this genus are commonly called cigar orchids because of the shape of their pseudobulbs

Habitat:

terrestrial, open mountain, 2000m

Notes:

I was shocked to see this large orchid growing in an area that had been recently burned, while I was on an epic 14km loop in National Archaeological Park of Tierradentro. It was on a really steep slope and was difficult to get the tripod in place. I didn't want to drop anything but unfortunately, I did! My remote slipped out of my hand and I had to go down and find it. Luckily I did and only wasted a few minutes looking for it.
