This little gray/white caterpillar has a black head. It around 25mm long.

Habitat:

Canal/deciduous habitat.

Thanks ForestDragon. My photos of this specimen are actually in that Unknown group that you referenced. Unfortunately, their resident experts don't know what it is yet, but I keep hoping. I need to try and rear some of these unknown sawflies to figure them out.

Aaron, I did originally think sawfly, but not sure why I abandoned that idea so quickly. I didn't really pay attention to the plant unfortunately. I need to get better about that. Will continue search with sawfly larvae. Thanks for the suggestion!
Bill, look up sawfly larvae on this one. Do you happen to know the plant it was feeding on? That might help narrow things down a bit.
