Field Notes

Description:

The Alpine Cinquefoil is a flowering plant in the family Rosaceae. It is a perennial herb which likes dry base-rich rock faces, cliffs and ledges and calcareous grassland. In Iceland it is widespread, but not found in the highland deserts north and west of Vatnajökull.

Habitat:

Rocky scrubby area between glaciers, volcanoes and flood plain, Skaftafell National Park. Last shot in the spotting below shows the habitat:

Notes:

World Distribution: Eurosiberian, boreo-arctic; montane element; also found in North America.
