Field Notes

Description:

Heart shaped face on a large rounded head and small body. A tawney outline of face, head, back and wings. The male has a paler color underneath. Says strickly nocturnal, yet I found this one wide awake and alert in the early morning.

Habitat:

This one prefers to hunt in open fields and marsh. It also prefers roosting in Eucalyptus trees.

Notes:

This one was disturbed by a Cooper's Hawk.
