Description:
Black and white woodpecker. Similar to the Hairy Woodpecker. The Downy smaller size, has a shorter bill and the white outer tail feathers are barred underneath which gives the appearance it is spotted. White back and black wings with spotted bars. The Pacific version has a dirtier white.
