Field Notes

Description:

This slender black stiletto fly was about 18 mm long. It was mostly black except for the tarsi, antennae and palps which were a light brown. Colourless wings had black triangular patterns.
The abdomen had thin white bands. Legs were very long.

Habitat:

Spotted just outside a garden shed.

Notes:

A very active and restless fly, again very much like a pompilid wasp <br>
