Field Notes

Description:

About 15mm long, this wasp had a black body with white bands around the abdomen, antennae and tarsi of the hind legs. Also had white along the medial eye margin and white spots on thorax.
Ovipositor was a moderate length(about the length of the abdomen).

Habitat:

Spotted on Eucalyptus tree

Notes:

Appeared tp be hunting/looking for something in the bark. the wasp larvae are said to be external parasite of moth pupae.

Family: Ichneumonidae
