Field Notes

Description:

This is a young, soft puffball with warts on the surface. The inside (gleba) is pure white. Apparently, an animal took a few bites out of it.

Habitat:

Overlook Mountain. Moderate to full shade. Forest floor, mountain alpine 3100+ ft.

Notes:

Edible when young, before the internal contents mature and brown.
