Description:

A common species of a hoverfly (wasp mimic). This hoverfly migrates. It only stays in Sweden from May to September, and the rest of the time in Central/South of Europe.

Habitat:

City (It can be found in many types of habitats)

Notes:

This type of hoverfly is usually unafraid of people, and the Swedish common name translated in English is "curious hoverfly". The larvae feed on aphids

I guess my eyes are too tired as well, the link I gave you matches your spotting perfectly and the ID you have is a bit tricky not so sure. Yours is a male and looks like E. corollae has thinner bands unlike this fly, check these photos. http://www.flickr.com/photos/63075200@N07/sets/72157629423401338/ Now I can say you should go with E.latifasciatus :-).
