Field Notes

Description:

Probably a species of the genus Leptodactylus--a large taxon of ground and tree-dwelling frogs in the New World tropics.

Habitat:

I saw this one in the Amazon of the Tambopata province of eastern Peru. It lives primarily on the forest floor among dead leaves (and it has excellent camouflage for this habitat), low-lying vegetation and mud.
