Field Notes

Description:

This butterfly is also know as American Copper or Common Copper Butterfly. The main part of the upper wings are a lovely copper colour with dark spots and a dark edge, where as the lower wings are dark blackish almost dark blue in colour with a copper edge.

Habitat:

This one came to rest on our Basil plant, where it stayed opening and closing its wings for sometime. I have seen several of them around our garden here in Turkey.
