Description:

A type of katydid, or bush cricket. The long sword-like ovipositer indicates this is the female.

Habitat:

Dry sclerophyll bushland.

Yes, I need a copy of Rentz as well. I found this female in our mailbox, and that white thing she's on is a letter I'm holding. Until I spotted the chin tucked under, I was totally flummoxed by the head. A little nymph in a Sun orchid is still my favorite katydid spotting. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/3470001
