Field Notes

Description:

A very small leaf beetle about 6mm long. Red colouring through the elytra. Eyes curved.

Habitat:

Under mercury vapour lamps at a local car yard. This one was on a Mazda :-)

Thanks for that Martin. Rotten photos unfortunately. Did you notice the 'sculptured' eyes? I've also got what looks like a leaf beetle with bent eyes. I thought they all had cute round ones. I suppose the eyes don't wrap around the antennae like in the longicorns.
I see what you mean by longicorn but this is one of the cylinder leaf beetles They pupate on the ground in a case made of soil and twigs. Yours is nicely ribbed. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/8322758 http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/20763044
