added a closeup of sibling one . This sibling was darker than the other.
Thanks to all who Favorited it. I feel very fortunate that nature allowed me to witness one of it's most tender and loving moments!
Thnx Rosa! I updated as fledglings.
Hey Hema, they are probably fledglings. Very exciting! :)
I found this super set on the internet!! http://www.photoblog.com/janetlippincott/2009/05/31/fledgling-blue-gray-gnatcatcher.html
Jellis, i do feel the same that they were too little to be out of the nest. But the mom was around most of the time. She was flying around frantically searching for food. So many questions remain. Do they hop back into the nest after eating? Can they fly? It does increase the risk of predation. Let's hope for the best!!
Mother was closely supervising and there were two of them.
Looks too young to be out of the nest yet
That's a good question. The closest looking Vireo that is here in Florida is the Blue-headed Vireo, but the colors on the wing and back and the white goggles don't add up. Check this link out for comparing the two: http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/blue-headed_vireo/id. I'm pretty certain it is not a vireo. :)
I think so too Rosa. Not a vireo?
Wow! How adorable! I think it is a Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher. Nice finding Hema!
