Description:
Familiar bloomer on the roadside and in fields. Native Americans made a red dye from the flowers. Also used, I read, to make a hot beverage before traders introduced coffee ... and back in the day, women drank an infusion of the whole plant if they wanted a girl baby. Who knew?
