Field Notes

Description:

Danielle Isolano 9/14/13 at 1:00 p.m. I spotted this moss growing on a tree at Waller Mill Park in Williamsburg Virginia today at my employee picnic. Moss is a soft, small plant that tends to grow in clumps in wooded areas. This particular moss has light green pigment.

Habitat:

Moss typically grow in damp, shaded areas with the help of photosynthesis. Moss need a lot of water in their environment to survive because they are non-vascular. Moss can grow on a variety of different things such as trees, rocks, in between brick pavement, and in soil.
