Field Notes

Description:

small salticid jumping spider, brown and white,4 spots paired on abdomen dorsal surface, very long clear hairs extend from body surface

Habitat:

knee high grass field on grass stems and leaves in sunny area

Notes:

PREDATION! caught a fly and its half munched. Reacted to me by moving under a grass leaf fro more cover. Continued to eat the fly carcass. The fourth photo shows another 8 spot individual with darker coloring. This is the most abundant species in the predominantly grass part of the meadow. 5th photo is another individual of species with dorsal view of eyes.
